It all starts with...

...standard.cap

When you start capella, you will see this and a blinking cursor:

Now you can directly start entering notes. Or you start by changing the SystemTemplate. Or you start the Score Wizard to select the parts.

Always the same?

When you know in advance that you will always write for example for a four-voice choir then you might want to directly see the appropriate system. This is how to do it:

  • Create a capella file which contains all required properties (parts, key, lyrics font...) but no notes.
  • Save the file under the name of "standard.cap" (not capx!) in the program folder in

c:\Program Files\capella-software\capella 7\templates\standard.cap

Attention: For this action you will need write permission in the program folder!

When you start capella or open a new, empty score, standard.cap will be opened. By overwriting this file you will always obtain your self-made template.
